The Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois provides a broad range of services to meet the unique needs of most children and families. MHCCI is one of the largest, most experienced behavioral health providers in the region. At The Children’s Center, we bring together experience and expertise to provide comprehensive children’s services including:

Outpatient Therapy
The Children’s Center provides therapeutic services to children, adolescents and families with the hopes of restoring the child to optimum mental health. Services for children will include a comprehensive mental health assessment to determine appropriate services. These may include:

  • A psychological or psychiatric assessment
  • Individual therapy
  • Family therapy
  • Medication administration
  • Monitoring and training
  • Crisis intervention
  • Linkage to appropriate community resources
  • Screening, Assessment and Support Services (SASS)
Services are provided to children who require intensive care on a short-term basis to stabilize their situation. SASS services may include:

  • Case management
  • Individual and family therapy
  • Psychiatric consultation
  • The intensity of SASS services ranges from daily to weekly contact. These services may be delivered in the community, at schools or in the home. SASS services are recommended and approved through Crisis And Referral Entry Services, Department of Human Services, Department of Public Aid and Department of Children and Family Services.

Child and Family Diagnostic Clinic (CFDC)
CFDC is a mental health assessment program that serves children and families who are involved with many service providers – and who may have multiple problems and needs. After a thorough assessment, the team works to coordinate treatment plans and make recommendations that best meet the needs of the child.

    Inpatient Hospitalization
Because The Children’s Center is a part of Memorial Behavioral Health Group, we are also able to refer to inpatient hospitalization at Memorial Medical Center if that level of care is needed.

    Treatment for ADHD
The Children’s Center provides evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). This treatment focuses on providing parents the skills, knowledge and training they need to manage behaviors related to ADHD. A series of group education sessions are available to eligible families, which may be combined with individual child therapy if appropriate. Families will learn how to create a positive environment for children with ADHD to improve their behavior at home and school.
